Folsom's SynapSense bought by Chicago manufacturer

Folsom-based SynapSense Corp. on Thursday was bought by Panduit, an international manufacturer of equipment for data centers.
Founded in 2006, SynapSense was initially funded by local venture capital firms and then later by a pack of top tier international investors who invested a total of more than $43 million into the green technology company.
Terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed. SynapSense will become a brand of the Chicago-area-based Panduit.
“SynapSense is a service-oriented technology company that will bring tremendous value to our customers,” Panduit president Tom Donovan said in a news release.
SynapSense develops wireless energy-efficiency systems that cut costs and improves operations for data centers, which are power-hungry hubs that power the internet. The company's technology helps data center managers monitor, measure and control electrical and air conditioning systems inside of data centers and inside of telecommunications switches.
SynapSense’s headquarters is at 340 Palladio Parkway, which is office space in the Palladio at Broadstone lifestyle center.
Panduit Corp., based in the Chicago suburb of Tinley Park, makes hardware and software used in large-scale power, computing and communications applications. It operates in more than 120 countries.
“The SynapSense team has a proven track record of success, helping data center managers reduce energy costs, unlock stranded capacity, and sustain savings over time,” Donovan said, adding that SynapSense has “strong, trusted partner relationships” in the banking, communications, retail, corporate and government sectors.
